Land Concentration and Land Grabbing Processes—Evidence from Slovakia

In Slovakia, the large-scale acquisition of agricultural land in combination with concentration represents a legitimate threat that can lead to grabbing. Based on research, two interrelated areas protection need be effectively regulated limit grabbing: access and land. Due absence relevant data analysis regarding this issue, main aim study was analyse emergence Slovakia based historical cultural factors evaluate current legislative institutional framework both aspects possible impact successively graduating particular, analytical methods were used, presenting from secondary literature sources, questionnaire survey, representatives Ministry Agriculture Rural Development Slovakia. The research shows although state has adopted necessary legal for property rights land, it is not enforce it, as its implementation absent. It also state’s malfunctioning regulatory mechanism indirect action instruments may key indicators leading processes industrial agriculture. Therefore, adoption legislation limiting important, but grabbing presume complex provision strategic measures aimed at sustainable quality food security.
